Government university and private institution are both of learning institution. It is hard to make a decision between choosing a government over a private one. Between government university and private institution, there are many differences and similarities. The main differences are fees, rules and loan, the similarities are system of education, class atmosphere and learning institution.
Government university and private institution have some similarities. The first similarities is their system of education. Private institution and government university offer same courses and subjects. University has mathematics, accounts, and others. Private institution also has the same subjects. They also offer diploma and degree. The first differences are about their fees. The fee for government university is much cheaper and suitable for lower income and normal people. It is because government university is under the government cares. Thus, government will give aids and funding to the university. Meanwhile, private institution fee is expensive from the government university's fee. This is because the private institution had to expense own their own without the help from government.
The second similarities is about their class atmosphere and facility. Nowadays, the lecturers use PowerPoint slides in their classes. So, the classes must have LCD projector, computer, and connection cable. Students should study in a comfortable class and clean class. In university and private institution, their classes is very comfortable. The classes have air conditioners, LCD projector, computer, comfortable chairs and others. They have library, lab, toilet and other facility. Compared to university, the rules for private institution is more flexible. Private institution students may just come to class with wearing slippers, fashionable t-shirt or dress, wearing denim, skinny jeans, long hair and others. Sometimes it's more look like a fashion show rather than a lecture. Their students do not worry about getting late to class and do not come to class. This is because some of their lecturers ignore the students breaking the rules. It is said that students controls the lecturers because the students who is the one paying the lecturer's salary. However, government university rule are more tight. Student cannot come late and cannot playing truant. This is because their marks are on the lecturer's jurisdiction and the lecturer has full control of the student's behavior. University student appearances are more polite because they must tuck in their t-shirt, while wearing jeans is forbidden, and they must wear shoes instead of slippers. The conclusion is, government university is more disciplines than private institution.
The third and last similarities between government university and private institution is a place for furthering our studies. After SPM or STPM, it is hard to make decision between the two learning institution. It is place for upgrade our certificate such as from diploma to degree. Furthermore, these institutions help us to step forward and as a way to achieve our ambition. They are also under one roof, either government university or private institution, they must have approval from Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. The last differences are their qualification to enroll into the these higher education institutions. Government university needs at least all subject credit. But, many students got A's in SPM or STPM. So, the government only choose the best to enter the university. Private institution send their invitation letter to the student. There are many choices of private institution. They do not mind whether students got good grades or not. They just take student who want to enter their institution. Student only have to prepare a lot of money to pay the fee.
As the conclusion, government university and private institution have their own similarities and differences. Choose wisely between them. I prefer applying government university because it is better. We also can apply PTPTN loan easily. Some private institution is not certificated. In spite of these differences and similarities, they both serve the same purpose, to prepare an individual to face challenges for the real world.
